The brief

This design for the Osapa Enclave is a study in balancing community and privacy within a modern urban setting. Rather than a single, imposing structure, the building was organized into an L-shaped layout that wraps around a central courtyard. This configuration is a nod to traditional Nigerian compound living, where the outdoor space acts as the “heart” of the home, providing a safe, breezy area for movement and connection while naturally separating the private living quarters from the street.

The architecture is defined by clean, horizontal lines and a crisp white palette that reflects the tropical sun, keeping the building visually light and thermally efficient. To soften the modern edges, vertical green “living walls” on timber-slatted screens were integrated into the design. These elements don’t just add texture; they provide natural shading and promote airflow across the terraces, creating a cooler microclimate for the residents.

Inside, the units are meticulously planned to support a flexible, high-quality lifestyle. The ground floor units feature open-plan living and dining areas that flow into well-appointed kitchens, while the upper floors house expansive master suites with private terraces. We also prioritized shared wellness and productivity by including a dedicated gym and a communal workspace on the ground level. By elevating the building on a clean, functional base and focusing on a seamless indoor-outdoor transition, we’ve created a sanctuary that feels both contemporary and deeply respectful of how we naturally move and live in our environment.
